Eastview Landfill

The City of Brandon retained Integrated Gas Recovery Services Inc. (IGRS) to conduct a landfill gas pump test at the City’s Eastview Landfill to estimate the landfill gas reserves available and the sustainable landfill gas recovery rates for potential utilization of the gas. Comcor carried out this test and subsequent assessments for IGRS.

The project developed to include a full scale gas collection and flaring system design with engineering, tender preparation and construction supervision. We also assisted the City in obtaining the necessary approvals including the Environmental License, a Building Permit, as well as the Electrical and Gas Special Acceptances from the Office of the Fire Commissioner. With system commissioning, this project became the first of its kind in the Province of Manitoba.

Since commissioning, we have performed all monitoring and maintenance services on the system. Annual reports on the system are also prepared each year on behalf of the City to meet site licence reporting requirements of the Province of Manitoba.

There are plans to utilize the gas in the future for on-site leachate evaporation.
