Landfill Gas Recovery & Flaring System

In 1989, Comcor designed and oversaw construction and commissioning of a landfill gas collection and flaring system that was intended to reduce the odours emanating from the closed City of Cornwall landfill site. XX years later, we designed an expansion to the system to include landfill gas collection from the adjacent open landfill. We continue to provide engineering and consulting landfill gas services and have managed a number of landfill gas collection and flaring system expansions as well as mechanical upgrades on the original system.

Ongoing operation and maintenance services have been provided over recent years on the landfill gas collection and flaring system as well as the leachate collection system.

Necessary system upgrades prompted the involvement of the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) which administers the Canadian Landfill Gas Code. Since the original system was built prior to inception of the Code, a number of scope modifications required to meet the code were made after consultation with the TSSA which, in the end, resulted in full approval.
